Although there were no top results this weekend, all horses jumped some great rounds in Rome. In the Furusiyya FEI Nations Cup Europe Division 1 – the feature class of the event – Kathi and Charlie jumped a fantastic second clear round, after an unlucky pole down in the first round of the competition. Ukraine ended fifth of the eight teams, picking up 60 points in the series.
On Friday, B Once Z was clear and placed 12th in the 1.50 class against the clock – while Air Chin Z was clear in the 1.40 class. On Saturday Air Chin Z followed up with a super round in the 1.50 class, ending 10th with a single time penalty. In Sunday’s Grand Prix, B Once Z showed what she is made of – jumping clear on the fences in the first round but recording a time penalty as she exceeded the time allowed by the slightest of margins. Nevertheless it was good enough to qualify for round two, where Bibi had the last pole down as she ran a little empty towards the end. Her performance was good enough for 12th place in this very tough competition that was won by Eric Lamaze on Zigali P S.
Needless to say, Kathi left Rome with a very good feeling as all three horses show consistent form and a very positive development.
